Mackinac Island

Bec:

This weekend we took a little trip north. We stayed with Alan's Mom and Dad. Amy and the boys were up there too. This filled the house up. On Friday we (Al, Bec. and kids) went to Mackinac Island. The boat ride over was a little rough but we managed to contain ourselves. We decided to start with a bike ride around the island. Our first stop was at Arch Rock.

The walk to the top was worth the view. Cole and Jenée were very willing to make the trip up. Going down was a bit more difficult.

We stopped a couple of more times around before we turned our bikes in and had lunch. After lunch we went to explore the "inside" of the island. Our trek began with a hike that felt like we were walking straight up. It evened out and we found our way to Sugar Loaf Rock.

We then went to Scull Cave. And Fort something. Actually Alan decided to not climb the 120+ stairs (Cole counted.) This was the highest point of the island. The view was spectacular which was good since there is not longer a fort.

Jenée and I decided to go check out the Catholic Church and light some candles. We met up with Cole and Alan at an icecream shop. All of a sudden Jenée starts climbing over Cole saying "That's Megan! I've got to go!" Yes Jenée spotted a friend. She and her family were staying on the island for the night. We chatted with the family long enough to bore the boys.

It was then time for us to take the boat back to the mainland. We sat on the top deck. Our tummys handled this better. We slept well.

More on our trip later.
