June Stuff

June in the Mitten means strawberry pickin'. This year Cole, Jenee, and I took Whitney and Lucy, Anjie's girls. It was a lot of fun. Amazingly, even though it was only around noon a full moon was visible. Somehow, both J and I forgot our cameras.

After making some strawberry shortcake, the kids decided to do some whipped cream shots which then turned into body art.

J and I decided that we would not make freezer jam. Oh no. We went for the processed stuff. After three batches, we had a good system down.

Being a nice kid, J let Lucy do her make-up. An eight-year-old make-up artist makes for some interesting looks. Hmmmm.... Whitney is not really smiling for the camera as much as she is laughing at Jenee.
Earlier this week I went to let the dogs out. Hopping around in the grass was a baby robin who left the nest a bit too early. Knowing that Atticus and McGwire would see this little guy as a wonderful new toy that they could love to death, the kids and I decided to save it as we did not want another robin catastrophy (At this point I had hoped to put a link to the three robins that perished, but evidently that was a post in my private journal. Oh you thought I only wrote here?). Jenee and I trapped the little guy in this tub. J dubbed him Skitter, since he skittered around. We then searched for a safe place for him. Most of the houses on our side of the street have dogs. We decided to go across the street and ask Tom if we could leave Skitter there. He was not home. Jenee thought we could just ditch him there. Bad Girl! So we went on to another neighbor. Skitter now has a haven in the bushes of Dave's house. He was very nice and did not laugh in our faces. We only asked that he not tell us if he finds Skitter dead.

Cole has been asking me to get his hair cut. It keeps getting put on the short list along with fixing the faucet in the kitchen. But isn't this a great head of hair!

(Special Shout-Out: Hi Shell!!!!!! I am so happy you are reading our blog.)
