The Dating Game: under 18 edition

One of the best things about Cole playing soccer is the friends he has made. You thought I was going to say the opportunity to play in searing heat, sleet, and/or tornadic weather? One of his newest friends is Kevin. The boys went to different elementaries, but are now in the same classroom. Not too long ago I asked Kevin if people think that Cole and Maria are twins. Kevin laughed and told me how he found out that Maria is Cole's cousin. Cole stopped to talk to Maria (she is in a different class just across the hall.) When Cole got into the classroom Kevin said to him, "You talkin' to your girlfriend?" Cole responded with, "She's my cousin." Not missing a beat Kevin said "So you're not dating?"

Now a Jenee story.

She asked if she could go to a movie with some guy. I have no idea who he is, but Cole seems to know who he is because he is on the soccer team. Alan took J to the theater. (sidenote: He was concerned that she was going to a rated R movie. Uhh. She is days away from being 16. Didn't we go to R rated movies at that age?) He called to ask, "Did you know she was meeting two guys?" mmm. Nope. Never thought to ask. Later when he got home he said both the guys were tall. I guess he does not like looking up at guys who are interested in our daughter. Funny, I don't have a problem with that, but I have had a lot practice looking up at people.

Jenee promises that she does not like this guy. He is just a friend. Just like the guy she went out with on Halloween was just a friend. Our neighbors across the street were shaking Jenee down for details when they stopped at their house. Louise said "Is this your friend?" Jenee said yes. Then Louise aked, "Is he your special friend?"

Oh don't feel sorry for Jenee. Feel sorry for Maria. I asked Cole today what would he do if one of his friends some day wants to go out with Maria. I don't think that thought ever crossed his mind until I brought it up. I am guessing that Maria may have to look to one of the other area schools for dates. You are welcome Brain and Tammy. My work is done....for now.

I think it's pretty cool that she #1 ASKED you instead of trying to sneak and #2 that you guys have taht great of a relationship that she feels comfortable asking you:)
