One of the mom's from Cole's baseball team called me to ask about what kind of baseball pants to get for her son. Her son has not played official little league baseball. On the rec team they just wore shorts or even jeans. I explained that she should get her son some sliding pants and a cup in addition to his baseball pants. I didn't know if all of the boys wear a cup and frankly, I leave all of that up to Alan. Since Cole plays catcher sometimes I am pretty sure that he usually wears one. I relayed the conversation to Cole. I asked him if he still has sliding pants. He said he had them on. Then I asked if he had a cup. He responded by knocking on his crotch.
Well there is some unforgettable feedback!

Ignore the Stuff on the Counter
When Jim, Rico and I were young, Jim used to pick Rico up and throw him into the sofa so hard the sofa would rock back against the wall. Rico would cry and Jim would say "That didn't hurt!" I always wondered how Jim knew that. Well Cole may not have been flung by a sibling, but I am guessing that nobody would tell him "that didn't hurt!"
Yes. Those are stitch marks from the baseball embossed on Cole's arm. As you can see in the next picture, he is pretty proud of his battle wound. What you cannot see is that I wrote "Mom" in the layer of dirt on his face.

By the way, the game was not one to brag about... well, Cole did score the only run. We will brag about that.
Update on J: She is doing great. She has a check-up soon.

The Long Weekend
Cole made it through 3 baseball games and 2 soccer games. The baseball games were a bit rough. The boys worked hard. Cole pitched a great game yesterday. The boys are young and still learning. Cole is a real leader on the team. Come July they will look like an entirely different team.
Yesterdays soccer game ended in a tie. Todays ended with a tie as well. One of the scores for Cole's team came by way of a header. We are very proud of the fact that Coach Jim managed not to get kicked out of this game. OK. Technically he was only given a warning yesterday. I think he did some smooth talking that allowed him to stay. He didn't throw his hat down either. Little victories are good too.

An Exciting Ball Game
Yesterday was Cole's second baseball game. Cole was looking good in his new white baseball pants that the right size. His first pair of pants were as long as he is tall. We went to the game knowing that the weather was not going to cooperate. Several of us in the stands had somebody calling us to give us weather updates. Finally, I saw lightening. Some man in the stands actually said to me "No you didn't." Do I really look like a woman who is going to take that? Don't worry I did not physically attack him, but I did stick up for myself.
Nobody was going to call the game. Two Moms from our team pulled their sons from the dugout. Alan and I decided to also. We told the coach about the lightening. More Moms started to grab their kids. Then the sirens went off. Yes, tornado sirens. People were running with their kids.
The first thing I did was call Daddy to make sure it was not an actual sighting. Nope. Doppler. We drove home fast but we stopped at all stop lights. I tried to take a picture and accidently had my camera set on video. It is not that great and really does not show how creepy things were and the light was going to turn green.
By the way, the baseball game was looking to go well. Cole batted forth (clean-up hitter I am told) he hit an in-field double with a nice slide into second. Noah batted second with a nice line drive taking him to second base. They had four runs come in before the sirens went off.
